Understandably, purchasing jewellery online is not necessarily the most ideal way to do so, as the internet (currently) lacks a feature to allow you to try pieces on, to see how they feel, and if they are a comfortable fit.
There’s not really an easy way around it at this point in time, so this page is here to make life a little simpler for you.
If your idea for a new ring is more complicated than a simple ring sizing or if you have an unusual request for a little digit decoration, we may be better suited to working with something like this: a highly recommended, fully customisable ring sizing box. It includes instructions/explanations, various devices to determine dimensions, a prepaid return postage label and a little bag to put it all in so when you post it back, I know which is the preferred options.
Recently, I put together this lighthearted video about ring sizing starring me, The Metalsmith. If there is any confusion, press play and see if this video clears it up. If you’re still a bit confused, feel free to get in contact.
If it clears up your questions, click to head back to the Shop to peruse these lovely hand adornments.
Another tricky piece to get right through the internet. All you will need is a tailor’s tape measure: the floppy, roll-up ones. Please don’t use rigid, retractable workshop ones. They will not work.
With the tape measure, take the measurement of the full circumference of this part of your hand. This is the widest point a closed bangle will have to pass over, therefore this measurement is essential.
If you’d like to acquire a piece of my work and you’re in the Winchester/Hampshire area, a face-to-face sizing of any piece of jewellery can easily be arranged. Simply, get in contact and we can find a day and time that suits.
If you have a bespoke idea in mind, that none of these sizing methods suit, please do get in touch and I will happily work out a plan.
